Photoset #1 from the 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb held at a local hospital.
The climb has two stairwells, you would climb up the left side, walk cross the roof and go down the right side, get your card stamped, then come back up the right side, back across the roof and down the left side and get another stamp. Almost everyone did that 20 times which is equal to climbing up and down one of the tower’s stairwells.
The event had locals and people from out of town, firefighters who wore full gear, police officers in full gear, military personnel and many more participating in the climb. They had games and fun challenges for children underneath the giant flag hanging from our department’s Tower truck.
It was a great day and it made me have even more respect for the FDNY, NYPD and EMS in New York on that day.
